Truck and bus theory: categories C and D

100 questions, 120 minutes, pass at 74. How the C/D bank differs from the car bank, and how to work through it.

The category C (truck) and D (bus) test is a different animal from the car test: 100 questions in 120 minutes, with a pass mark of 74. The bank is much larger, and a good part of it is not about road rules at all but about vehicles, loads, tachographs and drivers’ hours.

• A lot of questions on axle weights, gross vehicle weight and load security.
• Whole sections on tachographs, driver cards and breaks.
• For D, carrying passengers: boarding, alighting and behaviour in the saloon.
• Some questions overlap with the car bank; many are yours alone.

Working through it by topic is easier: the C/D bank is tagged with the RSA’s own section names, so the weak spots show up immediately. The technical vocabulary set is worth doing separately — half the difficulty here is language, not knowledge.
